A [b]product[/b] [b]variant[/b] is a specific item that is grouped with related variants that together form a [b]product[/b]. Variants usually vary from each other in one or more properties. For example, a medium-sized, green shirt with a stock-keeping unit (SKU) of 14678 is one [b]product[/b] [b]variant[/b] of the Shirt [b]product[/b]; together size, color, and SKU form one [b]variant[/b]. A [b]product[/b] [b]variant[/b] always includes a unique identifier, such as an SKU, and a price. Each [b]product[/b] [b]variant[/b] is based on the same [b]product[/b] definition.
Before you can add a [b]product[/b] [b]variant[/b] to a [b]product[/b], you must specify in the [b]product[/b] definition that the [b]product[/b] will include variants.
